The U.S. Department of Labor has issued its highly-anticipated Final Rule regarding overtime exempt status for “white collar” workers. The DOL estimates that the Final Rule will extend overtime protections to more than 4 million workers. John Gannon, attorney with Skoler, Abbott & Presser, will discuss the impact of the new overtime exemption rule and share strategies for compliance that will lessen the impact to your bottom line. Jenny MacKay, Benefits & Compensation Consultant with The Gaudreau Group, will discuss other employee benefits that may be affected by this change. Many employers relate this rule to wages, however, other benefits policies will be affected.
The Lunch & Learn will highlight:
The higher salary threshold to the "white collar" overtime exemptions
How to use bonuses, incentive payments and commissions toward the new threshold
The “zero cost” option for reclassifying exempt employees to an hourly rate
Suggested action steps for businesses and important deadlines
Optional vs Mandatory benefits and who is newly eligible
Volunteers continue to be needed for various positions, especially those with direct care experience, such as CNA's, PCA's, RN's, and LPN's.
