Spotlight On: Holyoke Medical Center
October 29, 2025

Our Member Relations Committee was pleased to surprise Holyoke Medical Center as our October 2025 Member Spotlight Presented by Sunshine Village!
In 1893, former Congressman and Mayor William Whiting, Holyoke politician, businessman, and philanthropist, led the efforts to make a non-sectarian hospital in Holyoke. Thus, Holyoke Medical Center, known then as Holyoke City Hospital, became a reality. In 1927 the name of the hospital was changed to Holyoke Hospital, to clarify that the institution was not a municipality. Most recently, the hospital became Holyoke Medical Center in 2003.
Holyoke Medical Center (HMC) values the safety of their patients and staff, with a vision to be the best place for care, and the best place to work, and a mission to improve the health of all people in the community by providing expert, compassionate, efficient, and cost effective care to all. HMC provides dedicated, expert care in Primary & Walk-In Care (Family Medicine, Pediatric Care, cont.), Specialty Physician Offices (Cardiology, Rheumatology, cont.), and Hospital Services (Critical Care, Emergency, Rehabilitation, cont.).
In addition to the Holyoke Medical Center Campus and Emergency Center on Beech Street, there are also several outpatient locations providing expert care. Located on Memorial Drive in Chicopee, The HMC Chicopee Outpatient Center includes Primary Care, Walk-In Care, Lab-Draw Services, X-Ray Services, and CORE Physical Therapy. On Southampton Road in Westfield, The HMC Westfield Outpatient Center includes Family Medicine, Walk-In Care, Lab-Draw Services, and CORE Pulmonology Specialists. And, on Main Street in Springfield, The HMC Springfield Outpatient Center includes Family Medicine, Kidney Associates, Neurology & Sleep, Podiatry, Rheumatology, CORE Physical & Occupational Therapy, and Lab Draw Services.
Holyoke Medical Center was identified particularly for its Oncology Department during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our committee surprised Hematology/Oncology Department Practice Manager Marjorie Spitz at our Annual Thriller 5K on October 25 with this recognition. Thank you, Marjorie, for your dedication to patients before, during, and after their cancer prognosis, and being a positive part of their journey.
And thank you, Holyoke Medical Center, for taking care of our community!
