    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICOPEE – Mayor Richard Kos has announced the hiring of Elizabette Botelho as the new City Engineer for the Department of Public Works. Botelho is a 2006 graduate of Northeastern University most recently working as a Project Engineer at Tighe & Bond, Inc.

Botelho began work Monday August 14, bringing with her more than 10 years of experience working in the civil and environmental engineering field. Working with municipalities and non-municipal clients, she has worked on a wide range of projects from water and drainage systems including the Chicopee CSO project, solid waste solutions, civil site design and construction, and MSBA repair projects.

The City Engineer is responsible for providing direction of the City’s Engineering Division by applying professional engineering knowledge and skills as they relate to the design and construction of public works and building projects, including sewer and drainage, street construction and rehabilitation, and traffic control. The City Engineer also serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Public Works.

“We welcome Ms. Botelho and look forward to her efforts as we work together to make our City better,” said Mayor Kos.

“I’m excited to be part of the City and its community, working with the Mayor and DPW to support growth and improvements for the residents and local businesses,” said Ms. Botelho.

“We are very happy to welcome Ms. Botelho to the Chicopee Department of Public Works engineering as the City Engineer,” said DPW Superintendent Jeffrey Neece. “She will be a great addition to our team.”

Botelho fills the position left open when former City Engineer Steven Frederick resigned in June.
